Florida’s public university governing board has signed off on Presidents for two North Florida schools: Florida A&M University and the University of West Florida.

FAMU’s Interim President Larry Robinson is back in the position for the third time, and Board of Governors member Alan Levine praised the university's board for the choice:

“I just want to congratulate your board chair and your board for having the foresight to ask you to come back in," Levine told Robinson.

And board member Ed Morton says he’d like to see Robinson stay around longer.

“I’ve had the opportunity to speak to a number of Board members of Florida A&M and I think they’ve made an outstanding choice. I trust that we will see you here for quite a while. Let’s put it that way.”

Robinson replaced Elmira Mangum who was forced to step down due to poor performance. Meanwhile, the University of West Florida’s new president is Martha Saunders.

UWF Board Chair Lewis Baer who alluded to the difficulty of the school’s presidential search by calling it a "long, drawn out process."

Saunders beat out former state Senator Don Gaetz for the job. Governor Rick Scott actively opposed Gaetz for the position, pushing for Saunders instead.
