Tallahassee historian, preservationist, and author Althemese Barnes, and Lisa Roberts, lifelong Frenchtown resident, discuss the history of Tallahassee’s Frenchtown neighborhood. Beginning with its settlement by formerly enslaved persons following the Civil War, Frenchtown grew to become a thriving middle-class Black community in the early 1900s. Learn about efforts to preserve this historic community and how people are trying to keep its history alive. The program is free and open to the public and will be held in the R.A. Gray Building, 500 S. Bronough Street, Tallahassee.
