A Year in Bees: Seasons of North Florida's Native Bees, w/Rob Diaz de Villegas

A Year in Bees: Seasons of North Florida's Native Bees, w/Rob Diaz de Villegas

Years of photographing North Florida bees for the WFSU Ecology Blog have changed Rob Diaz de Villegas' perspective on seasonality. Whether in the garden or in the Apalachicola National Forest, our area's bees are a diverse lot. Some fly for most of the year, taking pollen and nectar from a variety of flowers. Many others, however, are specialists we only see for the weeks their host flowers are in bloom. A few of these local specialists are rare. Every bee tells a story about the changing of the seasons, and the smaller seasons within each season.
