JOYCE CAROL OATES is the prolific author of some of the most enduring fiction of our time, including bestsellers, "We Were the Mulvaney’s," "Blonde," and "The Falls." Her published works also include many critically acclaimed collections of short fiction and essays, plays, and poetry.

Writing for "The Nation," critic Henry Louis Gates Jr. said of her work, "A future archeologist equipped only with her oeuvre could easily piece together the whole of postwar America." Her most recent book is "The Accursed." (Recorded March 5, 2013 at the Herbst Theatre in San Francisco)
