Leon County Seeks Public Members To Help Review Cultural Plan

Leon County is looking for the public’s help as it plans to update its joint cultural plan with the city of Tallahassee. It’s seeking four private citizens to serve on the committee that will make recommendations to both governments about how the arts should intersect with tourism, the local economy and education.

The county will be accepting applications for its four citizen spots on the cultural-plan committee until Sunday, Oct. 28.

Kim Dressel, Senior Assistant to the Leon County Administrator, says the four county appointees will serve alongside 14 other members.

“For the county, what we would be looking for is just people that have an interest in the cultural arts and would be interested in serving on the committee to update the current plan," she said. "And then the Board of County Commissioners would make the actual appointment.”

And, of the four appointees, one must represent a cultural arts organization.

Applications can be downloaded from the Leon County website. Then, they should be submitted by e-mail to Christine Coble at CobleC@LeonCountyFl.gov or by mail to 301 S. Monroe St., 5th Floor, Tallahassee, FL 32301.
