The Thomasville History Center holds its yearly dinner party on Tuesday, Nov. 4. The main course has been a staple of Southern fare for centuries.
That main course is chicken pilau. This tangy concoction dates back to the 1700s as a blend of flavors from African and European inhabitants in the South Carolina Low Country. Thomasville History Center Executive Director Austin Bell said that will be the culinary highlight of Tuesday's dinner.
"People can come and dine in on the grounds and listen to live music. They can go bowling in our historic bowling alley and grab a beer from Hubs and Hops on site. Or they can pull around the side of our lot and get their pilau meals to go."
All proceeds benefit the Thomasville History Center.
