WFSU Education is on the Move! Find us in the community this April

TALLAHASSEE, FL — WFSU Public Media’s Education team is springing into April with a full calendar of exciting, family-focused events across Tallahassee! From literature festivals to community celebrations, WFSU Education will be out and about providing hands-on learning activities, sharing educational resources, and connecting with families throughout the region. Join us for free and educational family fun!

Here's where you can find us this month:

Literacy Lane @ Word of South

Saturday, April 5 | 11:00 AM–3:00 PM | Cascades Park

Join us at Literacy Lane during the Word of South festival — a unique celebration blending literature and music. WFSU will be hosting a fun and engaging activity for young readers as part of this vibrant cultural event.

CSC Family Resource Center Ribbon Cutting

Saturday, April 12 | 11:00 AM–2:00 PM | 16387 Blountstown Hwy

We’re honored to participate in the grand opening of the Fort Braden Family Resource Center, hosted by the Children’s Home Society and the Children's Services Council of Leon County. Stop by our table for educational giveaways and interactive fun!

Family Deaf Connect

Saturday, April 12 | 10:00 AM–2:00 PM | Buck Lake Elementary School

In partnership with the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind and Leon County Schools, this event is specially designed for families of Deaf and hard-of-hearing children. Enjoy games, pizza, and even a visit from the fire department!

Storybook Village @ Children's Week Florida

Tuesday, April 15 | 9:00 AM–2:00 PM | Florida State Capitol

We’ll be part of Storybook Village, a magical event where books come alive through music, dance, and hands-on activities. Enjoy performances, food, and more in celebration of Florida’s youngest citizens.

StoryWalk

Friday, April 18 | 10:00 AM–2:00 PM | Florida Historic Capitol Museum

Celebrate the 250th anniversary of Paul Revere’s Ride with a patriotic StoryWalk, crafts, and family fun! WFSU will be on site to engage kids with literary history and educational activities.

KidsFest 2025

Saturday, April 26 | Cascades Park

Join thousands of families at one of Tallahassee’s most beloved free family festivals. WFSU will bring fun, hands-on learning to our activity table at this day-long celebration of community and childhood.

“WFSU Education is excited to bring our mission of playful learning and community connection throughout the community,” said Ryann Lynn, Education & Outreach Coordinator. “Whether you’re building a craft, listening to a story, or discovering a new PBS KIDS character, we hope families will stop by and say hello!”
