Tallahassee, FL--WFSU Public Media has named longtime News Director Lynn Hatter to lead the station’s content teams. It comes after a national search following the retirement of Kim Kelling as the station’s Director of Content and Community Partnerships. In her new role, Hatter will oversee the radio production, digital, and news teams in addition to the television production and content teams.
“I feel honored,” Hatter said. “It’s a privilege to lead the groups here at this dynamic station, and to lead at such a critical moment for public media.”
Hatter has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Florida A&M University and a master’s in professional communication/integrated marketing from Florida State University. Her series on the involuntary psychiatric examination and commitment of children won the 2021 national Edward R. Murrow Award for small market radio news. She co-produced WFSU’s award winning podcast “Not So Black and White,” and has earned more than three dozen individual awards and honors throughout her career. Hatter has also held fellowships with organizations such as Kaiser Health News and the University of Southern California’s Annenberg Center for Health Journalism.
In addition to serving as Director of Content for WFSU Public Media, Hatter also serves as a board member of the United Way of the Big Bend and the Radio Television Digital News Association Foundation (RTDNAF) and is a former member of the First Amendment Foundation of Florida.
“After our national search, it was great to see that the best candidate was right here at WFSU. I am confident that Lynn will be a great leader for WFSU's Content Team as we continue to evolve our services in an ever-changing media landscape,” said WFSU Public Media General Manager David Mullins.
In her new capacity as content director, Hatter is responsible for coordinating the radio, television, and digital content teams; creation and execution of the station’s overall content delivery systems; and the structure and establishment of new goals.
