Strong community connection and involvement is as important to a business as its financial success. As Talia Piloto reports, four businesses have been a part of Tallahassee’s community for more than a century.

Wakulla County Sheriff’s deputies are warning residents about a “vehicle advertising” scam that’s been plaguing the Florida Panhandle and parts of Georgia.

Sheriff’s office spokesman Keith Blackmar says the scam was advertised in the Tallahassee Democrat newspaper, and he called it a variation of an old scam.

“OUR TOWN: Local Leadership Forum” is a continuation of an ongoing series of unique local issues forums sponsored by The Village Square, a nonprofit formed by local leaders – from both sides of the political divide – to improve the civility and factual accuracy of civic dialogue. The series is part of a grant funded by the John S. and James L. Knight Fund at the Community Foundation of North Florida to foster an informed, engaged community.

A critical editorial in the Tallahassee Democrat demands that Florida A&M University President James Ammons resign. The editorial highlighted a series of past problems at the historically black university including the school’s past audit problems and the recent arrest of 11 people facing 3rd degree felonies in the hazing death of a school band drum major. Governor Rick Scott responded to the editorial Monday.
