Volunteer Florida is allocating scholarships to educational organizations to help students in Florida’s rural communities.
The scholarship is called the Rural Community Assets Fund. It allows grantees to recruit and mobilize volunteers in rural areas across Florida in schools. The volunteers’ main focus is to address educational needs of children from Kindergarten to 12th grade. Jovita Woodrich, Volunteer Services Director at Volunteer Florida, says the Fund will help bring people in education together.
“We can now reach families in outlying counties and bring them together with mentors that live closer to them so that they can get together on a more consistent basis," quotes Woodrich.
There is $100,000 available in the Fund. Each applicant has the possibility of receiving between $5,000 and $10,000. The Fund’s Proposals are due to Volunteer Florida by August 17th at 5 p.m. The proposal package application can be found on Volunteer Florida’s website.
