Former Tallahassee City Commissioner Steve Meisburg's many friends, colleagues and fans celebrated his life Thursday (12/1) night.
The event at The Moon was a moving tribute in words and music. Steve Meisburg was a man of many skill sets. Del Suggs was among the many local musicians who held him in high esteem.
"He was just a remarkable artist!" exclaimed Meisburg, who also fronted the band that played Meisburg tunes and other musical selections during the evening.
"He was a musician who could hear arrangements in his head much along the lines of Brian Wilson from the Beach Boys."
Debbie Lightsey served alongside Meisburg during his 16 years on the Tallahassee City Commission.
"He was a great commissioner," she remembered. "But more than that, he was an incredibly wonderful human being."
Meisburg was also an ordained minister and did campus outreach with now retired Lutheran Minister Emory Hingst.
"He was very flexible in ministering to all kinds of situations," Hingst said.
And throughout the evening, the Moon's giant screens rolled an endless parade of Steve Meisburg images, all portraying a man very much in love with people and in love with life. Steve Meisburg died this past June at the age of 74.
