With about a month until the November general election, gubernatorial candidates, Republican Governor Rick Scott and Democratic candidate Charlie Crist, spent part of Tuesday sparring with each other.
“In Charlie’s case, Charlie said I’m a Ronald Regan Republican. He’s not. He said I’m against tax increases, he raised taxes. He said I’m against tuition increases. He raised tuition. He said I’m against more debt increases in the state by billions of dollars,” Scott said of the Republican-turned-Democrat, following Tuesday's Cabinet meeting.
And, at a campaign event touting higher education at Florida A and M University in Tallahassee Tuesday, Crist shot back at Scott.
“The most frightening thing that we should all think about is if this guy gets re-elected, he goes back to being the true Rick Scott that he is, which cut education to the bone, destroyed our environment, wouldn’t fight for the middle class, and doesn’t believe in raising the minimum wage. I mean, it would be a nightmare,” said Crist.
Both Scott and Crist have a number of official debates scheduled in October. Meanwhile, Libertarian candidate Adrian Wyllie will not be appearing in at least one debate in mid-October because his poll numbers weren’t high enough to qualify.
