Tallahassee's Fourth Annual Science Saturday Festival happened behind the Lake Ella cottage shops. Hundreds of people young and old were checking out the more than seventy exhibits and hands-on demonstrations.
Some of the most popular exhibits had wild creatures, like the snakes and turtles at the Tall Timbers booth staffed by Georgia Ackerman.
“It’s absolutely a ton of fun,” she smiled as excited young people swarmed around the animal displays. “Very enthusiastic families out here today and we’re just doing our best to keep up with them!”
The Gulf Specimen Marine Lab's Cypress Rudloe was amazed at all the people checking out his booth's crabs, scallops and other sea creatures.
“It’s just a great thing, it really is with all these science-based exhibits and you can tell everyone is really excited and people are out in large numbers to this event.
Over at the Rethink Energy Florida booth, Brian Lee was baking up a batch of goodies.
“We have a solar oven that is heating up over 110 degrees – on a cloudy day – and so it’s slow-cooking some cookies for us,” he said.
The Science Saturday Festival was the brainchild of well-known Tallahasseeans Bill and Elaine Grace.
