The Florida Department of State says a plan to let people register online to vote is on track. Officials passed the first hurdle last week, delivering a status report to the state legislature. Meredith Beatrice is a spokeswoman for the department.
“As stated in the report, the Department of State and its partners remain committed to and are on schedule to ensure the timely and successful implementation of the online voter registration system by October 2017,” Beatrice says.
Officials say implementing the program will require six phases. The first, or discovery, phase is complete.
