New Voter Identification Up For Consideration

A sign saying Vote Here

A new form of identification could soon be accepted for Florida voters heading to the polls. That’s under a bill sponsored by Rep. Danny Burgess (R-Zephyrhills)

“What this bill seeks to do is add two forms of identification to the acceptable list. They’re very reasonable forms of identification. The first is the VA health identification card and the second is the concealed weapons or fire arms license. Both have very strict standards. They’re very secure IDs. People go through a rigorous vetting process to obtain those,” Burgess says.

The new forms of identification could be presented as voters arrive at the polls or could be used for first time voters registering by mail or those who need to sign an absentee ballot affidavit to change their signatures.
