The release of what's been called "Dr. Seuss's lost book" had kids and parents heading for the Florida State University Bookstore over the weekend. Tom Flanigan reports the debut of "What Pet Should I Get" was also a chance for families to adopt a real pet.
Members of the FSU Volleyball Team were reading the new book out loud to the store's young customers.
Meanwhile, FSU Bookstore Director Anna Woods admitted this wasn't the store's standard literary fare.
“Well, we’re a bookstore so we try to reach out to the community and we thought it would be a great idea to have an event for kids and students, grownups, everybody,” she said. “So it’s fun!”
Some animal rescue groups were set up outside the store. Local animal shelter volunteer Paige Phillips had a ready answer to question, "What Pet Should I Get?"
“I am a big dog person,” she laughed. “So I think everybody should have a dog.”
But there were some cats there, too. Dr. Seuss, whose real name was Theodor Seuss Geisel, apparently wrote the book back in the late 50s or early 60s. His widow found the manuscript more than twenty years after his death in 1991 and the resulting book is now on sale worldwide.
