Fans of mockumentary movies will have the chance to see three films in the genre on the big screen this Saturday. Florida State University’s Opening Nights series includes a one-day festival celebrating the work of Christopher Guest.

Director, writer and actor Christopher Guest released “Best in Show,” a send-up of the people who participate in dog shows, 14 years ago. On Saturday, the Challenger Learning Center is playing it and two other Guest mockumentaries: the folk music parody “A Mighty Wind” and 1996’s “Waiting for Guffman,” which follows small-town theatre director Corky St. Clair.

Opening Nights Operations and Engagement Coordinator Ashley Kearns says the Guest Fest grew out of the arts series' staff's love for his work.

“Christopher Guest created a style of filmmaking that is everywhere now," she says. "We see mockumentaries in television, you see them in film, and when he was making these movies you didn’t see it; he was kind of a pioneer in the field.”

Thirty dollars gains admission to all three movies and unlimited popcorn. Single-movie tickets are also available on the Opening Nights website

Schedule for Nov. 1:

2:00 p.m. "A Mighty Wind"
4:00 p.m. "Best In Show"
7:30 p.m. "Waiting For Guffman"
