Killearn Location a Hit with St. Patrick's Day Partiers

Tom Flanigan

The Tallahassee Irish Society threw its yearly St. Patrick's Day party on Saturday. This year's celebration actually fell on the saint's March 17th feast day.

That fact alone just added to the festivity of the occasion. There was a steady stream of Celtic celebrants to Killearn's Shannon Lakes Park, the first time the festival had been held at that location. It had the unqualified approval of Tallahassee Irish Society Founder Mike Sheridan.

"I think it's wonderful!" he remarked as hundreds of people poured into the site, many parking their cars at the nearby Four Oaks Shopping Center. "It looks pretty; it looks good with a lot of people. No body seems to mind walking two blocks or taking the shuttle."

Along with non-stop music, mostly traditional including a sing-along of classic Irish ballads, there were culinary delicacies from the old country, some of it washed down with pints of Guinness.
