Hartford Drops Homeowner Coverage

Tallahassee, FL – Tropical Storm Fay has refocused Florida homeowners' attention on the importance of windstorm coverage. Meanwhile, the state's third-largest private insurer is shedding thousands of policyholders. More from Tom Flanigan .

Starting this month (August), The Hartford is dropping coverage for about thirty-thousand Florida homeowners. That's a third of its residential policyholders in the state. The Hartford's Senior Vice President Joel Freedman says it's a simple matter of economics .
