Guns On Campus Bill Passes Final House Panel

Florida House lawmakers have pushed a plan to allow people to carry guns on college campuses through its final committee.  Rep. Greg Steube (R-Sarasota) is sponsoring the measure, and Thursday he lashed out at critics who say the change will come with a hefty price tag for Florida’s colleges.

“It is really disheartening as a member of the Legislature to come up here and have universities and colleges say there’s going to be millions of dollars of a cost to the state of Florida because we let concealed permit carry holders carry their guns on campus,” Steube says.

The bill passed the House Judiciary Committee easily.  The Senate version has two more stops before it hits the floor.
