Governor Rick Scott is leading his eighth trade mission abroad, and this time, he’s making another trip to South America. Scott’s last trade mission was in Colombia late last year. Now, he’s planning a four-day trade mission to Chile.
And, Manny Mencia of Enterprise Florida says expanding their business relationship with Chile, one of Florida’s top trading partners, is the goal of the trip.
“It’s a very opportune time for the Governor to lead a mission to Chile," said Mencia. "Chile is Florida’s sixth largest market in the world. Chile has a free market-type economic system, a pro-business government that welcomes trade and welcomes investments.”
Enterprise Florida, the state’s economic development agency, is organizing the trade mission. Mencia says he expects 80 to 100 delegates to join the trip from 50 Florida companies. The trade mission starts May 20th and ends May 23rd.
