Some Florida lawmakers are remembering former state Senator Greg Evers as “one-of-a-kind.” The North Florida Republican passed away earlier this week.
For 16 years, Greg Evers represented the Northwest Florida area—ten years in the Florida House and six years in the Florida Senate. In that time, he was not only a gun rights advocate, he was very heavily involved in making changes to Florida’s Criminal Justice system. Sen. Rob Bradley (R-Fleming Island) remembers working with him.
“He had in his heart a desire to help people who were forgotten,” he said. “I miss him, and his family is in my thoughts and prayers.”
While the accident is still under investigation, authorities say Evers died Monday night in a single-car crash near his Baker home, and his pickup truck was found in a creek Tuesday. He was 62.
