Forecasters Predict Merry Holiday Shopping With An Economy That Looks Bright

Victor Hanacek

Holiday shoppers are expected to spend a little more this year. The Florida Retail Federation is predicting a 4.5  percent increase in holiday spending this year over last. Florida Retail Federation President Rick McAllister says the projected spending increase indicates positive economic growth.

“The future of retail looks bright. The economy of Florida looks bright,” he says.

Nation-wide holiday spending is expected to grow by 3.5 percent. McAllister says tourists and those who travel to Florida for the winter are helping to add to steeper growth in Florida.
