Tallahassee, FL – Audio recordings of two staff members in the Lieutenant Governor's office talking about Governor Rick Scott and his staff is spurring an investigation by Florida authorities. As Sascha Cordner reports, the recording may be a violation in Florida law, because everybody being recorded may not have known about it.

"Carletha Cole: I knew it

John Konkus: Well, I know, I mean I knew it was going to be trouble, so

Carletha Cole: You know why?

John Konkus: Because we're not- the Governor is not leading "

The audio recording is of Carletha Cole, a former Spokeswoman for Jennifer Carroll's office and John Konkus, Carroll's current chief of staff. This is just a copy of the audio, but Florida Department of Law Enforcement Spokesman Keith Kameg says they are investigating the actual recording because it may have been recorded without consent.

"Right now, at first, the most important thing is we have an active investigation. We're looking into to see if there are any violations in the Florida state statute. And, in the future, when we finish, the state attorney will make the final decision on where to proceed next."

In the recording, Cole and Konkus talk about how the Governor "is not leading" and how Scott's chief of staff may be afraid of the Lieutenant Governor. Cole was recently fired for talking about infighting in Carroll's office. The regional Tallahassee division of the FDLE is handling the investigation, which began the week of September 12th.
