County To Review Hermine Lessons Learned

Leon County will be hosting a “Hurricane Hermine After Action Report Workshop” Tuesday from 1pm to 3pm.

The workshop will recap the county’s preparation, response, and recovery following Hurricane Hermine’s August landfall. The report covers what worked and what didn’t in the county’s storm response. Finding #35 states “There were multiple instances of communications outside of the established protocols during Hurricane Hermine that provided contradictory information and led to unnecessary delays.”

The County wants to establish a closer tie to the Florida Division of Emergency Management to facilitate assistance requests. The workshop will be held in the County Commission Chambers at the Courthouse.
