The head of the agency charged with promoting the arts in Tallahassee and Leon County is resigning. Peggy Brady, the current Executive Director of the Council on Culture and the Arts, or COCA, has been with the organization for more than 20 years. But she says it’s time to move on to focus on a couple local artsy projects of her own.
“I have a theater company called the Laughing Stock and I have expanded the company into another product called Broadsway productions. And, with that expansion, we’re going to take that a lot further than we have been able to in the past. And, I know some of our Laughing Stock long-time fans will be interested to know that we’re going to try do it more often. So, I’m really looking forward to that,” said Brady.
In existence since 1985, COCA is funded mostly through support from the Tallahassee and Leon County commissions. COCA’s Board of Directors is tasked with choosing Brady’s replacement. Her last day is October 1st.
