Candidate for the Second Judicial Circuit Court , Josephina Tamayo, is hanging on by a thread. The incumbent almost lost her seat to candidate Barbara Hobbs, but Hobbs narrowly missed her chance for a full victory in the primary race, forcing both to face off in the general election.
In order for one of the candidates to win the seat for Second Judicial Circuit Court during the primary, the candidate needs to get more than 50-percent of the votes cast. Defense Attorney, Barbara Hobbs, narrowly missed the mark, coming in with just under 50-percent of the votes. Hobbs said she’s grateful for the support she's been shown so far.
"I'm in this race to serve the people of the second circuit and I think that my experience and my background has prepared me for this job and with the support of my folks that went out today and those that may have to go out in November, I’m sure I’m going to make this a successful run," Hobbs said.
Hobb’s closest competitor, incumbent Josefina Tamayo took about 30-percent of the votes. Hobbs and Tamayo will now appear on the ballot in the general election in November.
