Florida is in the market for a new Chief Financial Officer. Jeff Atwater announced Friday he’ll be stepping down from his position as state CFO in May when the 2017 legislative session ends. Atwater is moving on to Florida Atlantic University where he will serve as CFO. Atwater was turned down for a job as the FAU president three years ago. The News Service of Florida reports, Atwater had hoped to remain in his cabinet position longer, but says “crucial university initiatives” require him to move into the FAU job quickly. Governor Rick Scott is charged with appointing Atwater’s replacement.
