Griffin Middle School is expanding opportunities for parents to get involved. Now state officials are taking notice.

Florida’s Department of Education and the Parent Teacher Association is recognizing Griffin Middle School for its Lunch and Learn Series.

School Principal Gwendolyn Thomas says the initiative gives busy parents more opportunities to get involved.

“We thought well let’s invite them to come in and have lunch with our students,” Thomas says. “And then provide different varieties of workshops to give them information they may be missing.”

Thomas says the workshops focus on pupil progression plans, student grading and building communication.
