Nov 10, 2016

Both Republican lawmakers from Miami, Rep. Jeanette Nunez and Sen. Anitere Flores were chosen to help lead their respective chambers.

Two Hispanic female lawmakers will have leadership roles within the Florida House and Senate.

Incoming House Speaker Richard Corcoran says he’s naming State Rep. Jeanette Nunez as his chamber’s pro tempore.

And, incoming Senate President Joe Negron says he’s naming state Sen. Anitere Flores as his Second-in-command as well.

Both Flores and Nunez are not new to leadership roles—serving in various positions in the state legislature in previous years.

Both are also Republican lawmakers from Miami and the daughters of Cuban immigrants.
