"Q: The Music" is a weekly program hosted by Jian Ghomeshi. The program is a carefully curated mix of established and up-and-coming artists, consisting of favorite and most memorable performances, from within North America and far beyond. A typical episode will feature three acts: one top-tier performer; one rising star, and one act that might fall just on the outside of the mainstream. ‘Q: The Music’ gives you a weekly tour of those making their mark in today’s musical scene. Every episode, brings you a dynamic mix of musical performances and artist interviews, brimming with talent from North America and around the world.
As a singer, songwriter, and musician, host Jian Ghomeshi was a member of multi-platinum selling folk-rock group, Moxy Früvous. He toured internationally during the 1990s and shared stages with a variety of artists including Bob Dylan, Ani Difranco and Elvis Costello.
Each week, he takes your listeners on a musical journey, introducing them to the fresh sounds of today along with well-revered musical icons. From Joni Mitchell, to Jay Z, to The National, we bring you the best of what’s happening in music now as well as the icons who have paved the way.
Over the years, an impressive array of gifted performers have made their way through Studio Q. Collectively, they've created a music collection so good that we just can't keep it to ourselves. The shows aims to showcase living legends, buzz bands, and undiscovered artists outside the mainstream. Over the years hundreds of musicians have frequented Studio “Q,” and some of the best performances air on “Q: The Music.”
