Leon County government employees are set to get a raise after commissioners unanimously approved an across-the-board salary increase on Tuesday.
During a budget workshop, commissioners approved increasing employee salaries by 5%. They plan to spend $1.2 million from the county's rainy day fund to pay for the raises.
"We all recognize inflation. It's a reality," said Commissioner Carolyn Cummings. "We as commissioners have to establish a policy that recognizes the worth of all of our county employees, from the lowest- to the highest-paid, because I believe all have some worth in what we do on a daily basis."
