Nike is partnering with Florida A & M University to make official athletic gear for the college. It's part of a six-year agreement the university just announced. And it comes a day after LeBron James did a shout-out to FAMU over Twitter. In the post, he said he was "looking forward to what the future holds" and posed with orange and green sneakers—FAMU's signature colors.
Part of the agreement includes LeBron James uniforms, clothing, and footwear for FAMU's sports teams. And Nike will also be providing items for the Marching 100 band. FAMU's Vice President and Director of Athletics, Kortne Gosha, says the deal will provide internship and networking opportunities for students.
"Imagine the best business and industry student from our business school going into an internship with Nike or FAMU law students going to intern with Nike law. Those are all some of the possibilities and quite frankly the opportunities that we wanted to create," Gosha says.
He says more details about those opportunities will come at a later time. Gosha says he expects the brand deal will catch the eye of young people looking to apply for college.
"We're really excited, and we think it's going to do wonders for us in recruiting not just here in the state of Florida but across the country," Gosha says.
