Florida State University is extending its plan to teach all classes online—only at the start of the spring semester.

Today, the university said all classes next semester will be taught online through January 15. That’s an extension from an original plan to conduct the first three days of courses online. FSU says its highest priority is the health and safety of the campus community. The college says the extra week of remote classes will give it time to test people for COVID-19 as they return to campus. In-person classes will resume on January 19, 2021.

Robbie Gaffney graduated from Florida State University with degrees in Digital Media Production and Creative Writing. Before working at WFSU, they recorded FSU’s basketball and baseball games for Seminole Productions as well as interned for the PBS Station in Largo, Florida. Robbie loves playing video games such as Shadow of the Colossus, Animal Crossing, and Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles. Their other hobbies include sleeping and watching anime.
