A pre-parade breakfast for the Capital City's veterans happened early Veterans Day at the Lake Ella American Legion. There was plenty of good food along with some familiar faces in the serving line.
One of those faces was Florida Agriculture and Consumer Services Commissioner Nikki Fried. Presumably inspecting the food as she was dishing it out.
"We ran out of bacon, so that must have been what was good on the menu," she quipped. "But we've got plenty of sausage and eggs and grits!"
Also helping was Fifth District Florida Congressman Al Lawson.
"These young men as I call them gave so much years ago and made it possible for us to share the freedom that we have in America today," he remarke
This was the Eighth Annual Operation Thank You hosted by Leon County Government and Post Thirteen American Legion. Many of the participants then hopped on a float parked outside to take part in the Veterans Day Parade down Monroe Street.
