As part of the local observance of Black History Month, Tallahassee's Cascades Park welcomed the yearly Harambee Festival on Saturday, Feb. 23.
The cultural celebration is co-hosted by the City of Tallahassee and Florida A&M University. Among the many attractions, vendors of traditional African arts, crafts and clothing, along with non-stop musical entertainment from the park's big stage. Meanwhile, FAMU President Dr. Larry Robinson himself was working the school's booth and greeting festival visitors.
"It's a fun day for us, but there's a seriousness in it in that we want to show the community that our minds and hearts are open and we want to be a complete player in this community," he remarked.
The number of festival participants typically exceeds 10,000.
