Jam for Purple Willie Raises Alzheimer's Funds

Tom Flanigan

The Capital City area is on a money-raising kick against Alzheimer's. A couple of events took place this weekend with another major fund-raiser coming up a few weekends hence.

Tallahassee's Fried Turkeys were among the local bands playing gratis at Krewe de Gras Saturday night (8/19) for the Third Annual Purple Willie Jam, organized by David Wheeler.

"So many volunteers!" Wheeler exclaimed. "The Krewe de Gras has been fabulous. They let us keep 100% of the door and we do our best to maximize the amount that goes to the Alzheimer's Association."

There was also an Alzheimer's fund-raising motorcycle run on Saturday in Tallahassee. It was sponsored by the Top of the Line Ryderz Motorcycle Club. Then coming up on Saturday, September sixteenth, the yearly Walk To End Alzheimer's takes place at Tallahassee's Cascades Park.
