There was more green than usual in downtown Tallahassee on Saturday (3/11). That color was worn by hundreds of people who packed Kleman Plaza for the city's Irish Festival.
The occasion included the Jack Madden Memorial Parade featuring the Tallahassee Pipe Band. After the parade, the crowds headed for the Kleman Plaza green. Various vendors were hawking everything from Irish food and drink to memberships in the area's Celtic groups, such as the event's host, the Tallahassee Irish Society, headed by John Terrell.
"It's gorgeous out today," Terrell smiled, "Just a wonderful day for a parade and a festival!"
The event continued into the evening with non-stop live music. Local performers included the "Botheys", "Roisin Mo Chroi" and "Crooked Kiltz", along with solo artists Walter McDonough and Donie Carroll, the headline performer from County Cork, Ireland.
