Godby Seniors Help Some Real Live Cougars

Visit Tallahassee

Seniors from Tallahassee’s Godby High School are helping the live versions of their school’s cougar mascot.

On Wednesday, March 8 that help came in the form of a donation to the Tallahassee Museum. Godby Senior Class sponsor Steve Lubitz said the students came up with the idea for the $750 contribution for the Museum’s habitat that contains two young cougars.

“It’s really their decision,” Lubitz remarked. “It’s their money so they get to decide what to do with it.”

Godby Senior Sidney Light said the school’s graduating class has a long history of helping worthy causes and this one made a lot of sense.

“I never knew they actually had cougars until we heard about it so I thought we might as well keep this tradition going by supporting the Museum.”

Museum Director Russell Daws said the donation was greatly appreciated. “You can’t be jaded when you see our young people doing things like this these days.”

After presenting the museum with the gift, a group of Godby seniors got a behind-the-scenes look at the Cougar Cub exhibit to see their school’s mascots up close and personal.
