Tallahassee's so-called "Uptown" - the area north of I-10 along Thomasville Road - just keeps on growing.
A new local business opened its doors in the district over the weekend. The business was the second location for Capital City runners, a store specializing in shoes and other runners' apparel and accessories. Owner Jon Manry opened his first store six years ago on Thomasville Road in what's now called Midtown. He insisted there's enough business to keep both places running.
"Tallahassee is an awesome runners' market!" he enthused as he dashed about the store helping a full house of opening day customers. "It's one of the best that I've seen and I've been in a lot of places. Tallahassee just has a great runners' market."
And City Commissioner Gil Ziffer welcomed more commercial development in places like Bannerman Crossings that serves the Northeast part of town.
"Developing centers like this is exactly what we want because it means people have places to go close to them. They don't have to get in the car and drive 10 miles to go anywhere and this is exactly what we want on this side of town."
