The City of Tallahassee will be providing free bus rides to precincts on Election Day. The free StarMetro rides encourage citizens, especially those who rely on public transportation, to vote. City Commissioner Scott Maddox says the initiative is important to help get people out to vote.

"This election is an extremely important election, regardless of who your candidate is. I think that we should make it as convenient as possible for people to go vote," Maddox said.

Maddox brought this idea to the commission in early October.

"Democracy is important," Maddox said. "It’s important that we all take part in our elections, and this is just a small step that the city is doing to show folks that ride our transit system that we care and we care about the governance of our country. And if you care enough to vote, we’re going to help you do it."

On Election Day, polls will be open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
