TPD Officer Arrested, Charged In 'Road Rage' Incident

A Tallahassee police officer is facing a felony charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after clashing with a cyclist last week.

Officer James Harris turned himself into the Leon County Jail.   He's under arrest after what appears to be an episode of road rage last week. .

Harris has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. According to an arrest report his minivan was traveling North on Lohnbladh Road when the victim, a cyclist, reached out and slapped the side of the van.

Harris and the cyclist got into an argument, and when the victim tried to bike away, he claims Harris got into his van and drove toward him. The cyclist claims he could have been hit.
