Tallahassee Woman Recognized For Decades Of Service

A Tallahassee woman will be recognized during Thursday’s cabinet meeting. Eddie Mae Bennett will receive the Champion of Service Award.

Gov. Rick Scott will recognize Bennett for going above and beyond in her service to the community. Bennett has volunteered 20 hours each week over the past 25 years as a foster grandparent at Sealy Elementary school. She retired from the program last year at the age of 86. The Champion of Service Award is the only statewide volunteer recognition citizens can earn in Florida.
