Former Tallahassee State Representative Curtis Richardson has been elected to the City Commission. Richardson beat out opponents Diana Oropallo and David “Bubba” Riddle in the Seat Two race. Richardson’s victory, however, wasn’t a certainty until close to the end of the night.

In the run up to Tuesday’s election neither Richardson nor his primary challenger Diana Oropallo seemed to have a definite advantage. But Richardson took 52 percent of the votes.

He attributed his success to his relationship with the city of Tallahassee.

“I just drew on the experience and background that I have in this community, and the passion and commitment that I have for moving this city forward," Richardson says. "And I think that was what resonated with the voters.”

Oropallo received 40-percent of the votes. Candidate David “Bubba” Riddle received 8-percent of the votes cast in the race.
