A multi-agency effort involving the FBI, Tallahassee Police Department and Leon County Sheriff’s office has nabbed a group of people suspected of committing jewelry heists across the county.
According to the arrest report, the methods employed by a burglary ring are almost right out of the movies.

But unlike in the Ocean’s 11 style heist, the Tallahassee ring only had five members but each had a role to play.
The group is alleged to have broken into jewelry stores across the county by going in through rooftops. Tuesday they were caught in Tallahassee after using the strategy at Tallahassee Mall’s Lord and Barrons Jewelry Store. Using a pick-axe to tunnel through the roof, and a rope to lower themselves down to the store to steal what TPD Spokesman David Northway says is $160 thousand worth of fine watches and rings.
“The officers were able to catch them as they were leaving the store and they were brought to jail," he says.
According to the police report, the group is believed to have committed burglaries as far West as Colorado and as far south as Hillsboro County. At least one of the members of the ring has an address in Miami. The FBI doesn’t comment on ongoing investigations but it is possible the group could face charges in other states.
