A food festival aimed at raising cultural awareness of the Jewish community is steadily gaining popularity in the Tallahassee area. It’s the 5th year Temple Israel has shared Jewish food, art, music and culture with the North Florida community and this year’s festival features vast amounts of traditional Jewish food--from Temple Israel’s famous corned beef sandwiches,  to their black-and-white cookies.

“We’re opening our house to the community,” says Chair of the Jewish Food and Cultural Festival Chair, April Katine “We’re really kind of showing who we are to the community, sharing it, so that North Florida can see what it’s like to be Jewish and have a taste of Jewish [culture] for the day, at least.”

Katine said the Festival will have tents for different food stands and that entertainment would be moved inside in the case of rain showers. She said last year people were eager to try the corned-beef sandwiches, and says if you want a taste you’d better come early.

Temple Israel will hold its annual Tallahassee Jewish Food Festival this Sunday, April 6th from 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The festival is located at the corner of Mayhan Drive and Holly Way.
