Tallahassee, FL – Science teachers from around the Big Bend could get some extra help in the classroom this year. Lynn Hatter reports.
The Big Bend-Leon County Association of Science Teachers or BLAST is made up of partners from the Challenger Learning Center to FSU and TCC. BLAST President Harry Hawbacher says the program is designed to grow students' interest in programs like science, technology, engineering and math.
Sound- "It's a way for teachers to come and see what kind of informal educational opportunities are available in the community for them."
The program's supporters say it brings real-world examples of science to students in the classroom, instead of the student having to travel to see it.
