Tallahassee, FL – Chief Financial Officer Alex Sink is calling on Floridians to check for unclaimed property before it gets auctioned off to the public in the coming weeks. Trimmel Gomes reports the Bureau of Unclaimed Property is currently holding nine-million accounts

"Remember it's never too late to claim your treasure."

Standing alongside a table glittering with expensive items like a 6.6-carat diamond ring reserved at $75-thousand to a $29-hundred men's Cartier watch, CFO Alex Sink is encouraging all to check out the FLtreasurehunt.org website for more unclaimed property.

"Even if you have checked and checked, it may have been over a year ago, you need to go back into our website and check again. Your name, your family member's name, any name you've ever gone by, any businesses that you've ever operated and also your deceased relatives' names."

If items aren't claimed, they will be put before the public in an auction scheduled August 21st in Orlando. It's an annual sale of unclaimed safe deposit box contents turned over to the state. So far, there are about forty-thousand items up for grabs.
