Tallahassee, FL – In recent years, Florida has made a big push to place more kids under state foster care into "forever homes." Tom Flanigan reports the "Explore Adoption" effort has become a real success story.
Sherri Croom and her husband Tom took two Florida foster kids into their home and hearts.
"They came from some, you know, questionable beginnings and some drugs in their systems and stuff. But it's really interesting to see how little effect they had down the road with some good parenting and some nourishment, and we really feel blessed to have them."
On Monday, Governor Crist honored five moms who have adopted foster kids, giving them flowers and inviting them for tea at the Governor's Mansion.
"Every single one of those numbers is a human life that has been changed dramatically because of your love."
At the moment, state officials say there are about eight-hundred-fifty foster kids waiting for their lives to be similarly changed.
