Outgoing Tallahassee State Representative Michelle Rehwinkel Vasilinda is not in the list of finalists for the Presidency of Florida Gulf Coast University. It was Rehwinkel Vasilinda’s second try at a university presidency.

Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi remains adamant that her office, not the legislature should decide how to spend $300 million. The money is Florida’s share of a $25 billion foreclosure settlement with the nation’s five largest mortgage companies. State Representative Michelle Rehwinkle Vasilinda of Tallahassee wants a portion of the money to be spent on state employee pay raises, but Bondi says that’s not going to happen.


A Tallahassee-based government watchdog group wants Florida to broaden its public records laws. Integrity Florida says state and local officials need to be more transparent in their government dealings. The group is calling for an overhaul of Florida’s disclosure system and has put the records of state officials, including those who represent Leon and surrounding counties, online.
